Queensland Real Estate CPD Requirements – What You Need to Know

As of 6 June 2025, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is mandatory for all licensed real estate professionals in Queensland.

Whether you’re a real estate agent, property manager, auctioneer, or resident letting agent, you’ll now need to complete approved CPD each year to keep your licence or registration active.

So, What Does This Mean for You?

Each year, prior to the anniversary of your licence or registration you are required to complete two Office of Fair Trading (OFT) approved CPD sessions. You can meet the requirement in one of two ways:

Option 1: Complete one Type 1 session (core skills) and one Type 2 session (focused on service, ethics, and professional development)
Option 2: Complete two Type 1 sessions

Understanding Type 1 vs Type 2 Sessions

  • Type 1 CPD sessions focus on compliance, legislation, risk management, and other core technical skills that relate directly to your real estate licence.

  • Type 2 CPD sessions cover essential soft skills such as communication, negotiation, ethical practice, and customer service skills that help you build strong, lasting client relationships.

What Makes Type 1 CPD So Valuable?

Type 1 sessions are designed to provide more comprehensive and structured training. The Office of Fair Trading recognises two approved formats for Type 1 CPD:

  1. A nationally recognised unit of competency from one of the three approved qualifications, OR

  2. A condensed (non-accredited) version of one of those units, specially approved by the OFT.

The approved qualifications Type 1 CPD can be drawn from include:

  • CPP40524 Certificate IV in Strata Community Management

  • CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice

  • CPP51122 Diploma of Property (Agency Management)

What We Offer at The Learning Team

At The Learning Team, we offer nationally recognised, accredited units from the CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice. And we will continue to add to the selection of Type 1 units available.

By enrolling in the full, accredited version, you’re not just ticking a compliance box, you’re gaining formal credit toward a nationally recognised qualification. It’s a more valuable, future-focused training experience that goes beyond minimum requirements.

Each unit is delivered and assessed in full, giving you a deeper learning experience with structure, rigour, and industry relevance.

Why CPD Matters
